Fat quarters are cut in the standard "American" size of 18" x 22" including selvedge (approx. 45.7cm x 55.8cm). This is for consistency with factory cut bundles and quilt pattern fabric requirements.
 
Fat eighths are half of a fat quarter and measure approximately 9" x 22" including selvedge (approx. 22.8cm x 55.8cm).
